Who's behind the villa

The owners stay in the background. Jaleesa is who you’ll actually meet.
From €500 per night

Why we opened the door

We didn’t set out to become hosts. Villa Castaño started as a place we wanted for ourselves, somewhere in Estepona that felt right for the way we wanted to spend time here. The decision to open it up to guests came later, once we realised how much of the year the villa would otherwise sit empty. Sharing it made more sense than leaving it closed.
That’s still how we think about it. We stay involved, but we’re not the ones you’ll speak to first. Jaleesa is. She’s here, close to the villa, and she’s who picks up the details we’d otherwise miss from a distance. We check in on how things are going, we care about whether a stay went well, but we’ve deliberately kept ourselves in the background so the people actually looking after you are the ones you deal with directly. It’s a small distinction, but it’s one we hold onto. A villa run this way, with someone local at the centre of it, works better for everyone who stays here, including us.

Jaleesa says
“Drive down to Playa del Cristo before ten. It’s the only beach nearby that stays sheltered from the wind, so it’s calm even when the coast isn’t, and you’ll have most of it to yourselves before the town wakes up.”
