Play golf at Valle Romano

Six minutes from the villa, this is the closest course to the door. An 18-hole layout on the coast, not tucked inland like most of the region’s golf.

The experience

Valle Romano opened in 2010, designed by American golf course architect Cabell B. Robinson across 60 hectares, with views over the sea and Sierra Bermeja from several holes. The course plays to a par 71 over 6,213 metres and has hosted European Challenge Tour events, so the layout holds up for serious players as well as a casual holiday round.

Five tee positions per hole make it playable across a wide range of handicaps, from a first round on holiday to a more competitive game. The clubhouse has a golf academy, driving range, pro shop, changing rooms and a bar-restaurant on site, so there’s no need to leave the grounds between the round and lunch.

Each of the 18 holes is dedicated to a different figure in Spanish golf history, a detail that gives the course a bit more identity than a standard resort layout.

Not for everyone

This is a full 18-hole course, not a pitch and putt. Complete beginners are better served by a lesson at the academy first, and the course requires proper golf attire, with metal spikes and mobile phones not permitted while playing.
